5. How did you attract/address your audience?

I posted my Finished magazine on 'Facebook' to get feedback. I think that the information I got was helpful. I discovered that the writing on the bottom left of my magazine is quite difficult to read because of the drop shadow. Im am very pleased with the feedback I becuase it shows that my magazine has appealed to my target audience. I like the recurring theme of drop shadow through my magazine but I agree that it is unclear in this case. It would have been easier to read if I used 'Arial.' The Model on my front cover is representing successful young musicians, I think the audience understood the text in the way that I intended and it seems that they could connect with my magazine through the model because of the same age-range. most of the people who I asked for feedback were either Young musicians or music fans, they all understand that young people can be successful musicians.

A preferred reading of my magazine could be that it is a positive representation of 15-19 year olds as it is presenting them as being successful musicians. An oppositional reading could be that 15-19 year olds are not successful musicains therefore it could be seen as an unrealistic magazine. Some people will accept that some 15-19 year olds could be successful musicians similar to the teenager on the front cover of my magazine. However, most of them are not.  This is a negotiated reading because the reader is accepting that the representation could be true however in most cases it is not. I think that my targeted audience have taken a preferred reading towards my magazine and accepted that it is true in somecases. Therefore it is a realistic magazine.
