Text

I used Ariel and Niagara Solid throughout my magazine pages. I chose to you Niagara solid for only the titles as they were bigger than the other text and it could be quite difficult to read if its smaller.

Front cover

After Looking through the photograph that had taken I thought that the photograph looked much better with a black ground so I changed the title so its white instead of black so it stands out against the background. I think that the black background looks really good because there's a contrast between my models hair and skin and the black so it stands out a lot more. I increased the contrast in this photograph so it was sharper and clearer.

I have decided to do a double page spread on one of the main articles that was on the contents page so I have put similar images on each page. I have made sure that columns are the same as they are on the contents page. Once I have the text boxes filled in i'm going to slightly move the text around and have pull quotes between columns, this will make the page look a little less ordered and hopefully more interesting. I have also been careful to use the same font and font sizes on each page.
After the text boxes were where I wanted them I started to write the contents of my magazine and place the photographs in that I have taken. I thought it would be a good idea to add some photographs to the contents to make the page look a bit more colourful. I then added two larger photographs at the bottom from two of the main articles.

Here are a selection of photographs that I have I have taken. I experimented with lighting and the colour of the background, I think it looks much better with a black background because it makes the light in the photograph look slightly more natural.

I'm planning on taking my photographs tomorrow, so I looked through the photographs that I took when I was planning and chose one that I want my final photograph to look like. I then experimented by putting this photograph on the front cover. I really like this photograph because of the way that the light hits my models face, I am going to try and create the same effect when I take the photographs tomorrow However, I don't want my model to hold a camera.

After designing a new title for the front of my magazine, I quickly re-drew what I want my front page to look like with the new font. I think that the font looks appropriate and I think it will go well when I have my photograph up and the text on it.

Logo

I decided to change my logo, so I went though the font choices and picked a more suitable font. I like this one more because it looks more sophisticated than the others. I think this suits my target audience and my chosen genre. This is also the same font that I have chosen to use on my contents page for the title and the numbers.

After doing this I decided that it needed some colour, I experimented with layering and different colours. I decided that A pastel colour would look the best as it looks slightly more up-market and more sophisticated.

I used Indesign to design my contents page because it makes it much easier to split the page into columns. I have roughly laid out what I want The page to look like. I plan to do the same with my double page spread, this is so I have a rough idea of what I am doing before I start. I also want to make sure that all my pages look fairly similar to each other and if not I want to be able to easily change them. I have left empty text boxes so I can fill them later.
